Psychological reversal is a surprisingly common condition that leads to a number of afflictions, including addictions, such as alcoholism, drug use, and smoking, procrastination, depression, anxiety, or just about any other habit that prohibits successful habit-making. The good news is that it can be corrected, but there are a number of varieties of this reversal and we will discuss those here.
The first type is classified as general polarity reversals. General polarity reversals, or GPRs, are often introduced when a bad habit is introduced. Such bad habits include drug use, alcohol use, nicotine use, some prescription drug use, negative talking and thinking. Sometimes, dehydration causes it as well. There are also other things which can start GPRs up, and that includes things like sensitivity to a substance, such as food, fabrics, and metals located on or in the body. There are very specific karate chop or sore spot massage that can be used in many cases, but for things such as dehydration and body metals, that might not work. A GPR is similar to putting batteries into a battery-operated object and understanding that it fails to work because the polarities are reversed. Psychological reversal, like the flashlight in which the batteries are backwards, can be corrected if electrical current can be restored to the correct direction.
Secondary benefit syndrome reversals are another form of psychological reversal. This is when your mind uses fear to justify a bad habit or avoid a good habit. Let’s use the example of a case where a young girl’s father left the family when she was young. Perhaps she is overweight, has low self-esteem, or has an eating disorder. She might think subconsciously that if she corrects this problem, she could still feel empty and unloved. She might even think that if she behaves normally, that there might be some greater reason why he left her. Clearly, this is not the true issue but a mental block.
Once either of these two types of reversals are corrected, a quality practitioner can move on to working using EFT, or Emotional Freedom Techniques, which will help a person move on from whatever subconscious issues are plaguing their life and help them move onto a healthier lifestyle both mentally and physically. Psychological reversal can block even the most talented individuals from getting where they need to go in life. Correcting this is an important key in moving forward.
